Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Information nights are the best way to get info about your trip overseas. We offer a range of complimentary sessions tailored to where you are in your decision-making process. These include:
-
One-on-one information session – for you and a colleague, to familiarise you with the different student-focused trips we offer across Asia.
-
Information night at your school – for fellow teachers, parents and students, to raise interest for your proposed trip to Asia.
-
Pre-departure information night at your school – for you, parents and students, to discuss all relevant issues for your upcoming trip, including health and safety, in-country communications, curriculum and cultural sensitivity.
-
Pre-departure team building workshops – half-day team-building workshops for your tour group, to promote group cohesion and collaboration ahead of your trip.
Most definitely! We’re happy to escort you through the region on a free, one-on-one reconnaissance trip. The trip will acquaint you with our travel style, community service projects, staff and safety procedures. Please contact us to arrange a ‘recce’ trip to any part of Asia.
Before the trip, we brief students on the main elements of their trip itinerary. We explain in detail the travel documentation, packing lists, luggage, money, gifts, stationery and learning resources they’ll need, as well as the accommodation arrangements, safety and risk management processes, culturally appropriate behaviour and the in-country activities they’ll take part in. Then, once students arrive in Asia, we take them through a thorough orientation to initiate them with their new environment.
In general, students should be reasonably fit and in good health to get the most out of travelling. However, we can make exceptions for lower fitness levels, such as providing a support vehicle for non-cyclists. As a general rule, our trips follow a fitness grading based on the range of physical activities you choose to include:
-
Easy grade trips have little or no physical activities, however students must carry their own luggage for short distances.
-
Moderate grade trips include outdoor activities like trekking, cycling or whitewater rafting, as well as physical work during community service projects.
This is determined by your school’s policy. Some schools prefer to have a ‘no wi-fi/electronic media’ policy throughout the trip. Whatever your preferred policy, we’re available 24/7 to support you throughout your trip, and students are given phone numbers and phone cards to contact leaders in an emergency.
