By practising Company Citizenship, we are always conscious of the impact we have socially, economically and environmentally on all aspects of society. As such, we strive to make positive ethical impacts within all facets of our operations.

Student Educational Experiences ensures all staff understand our Company citizenship commitment and implement the policies wherever possible.

Our protocols include but are not limited to the following:
  • To be transparent in all economic dealings. This includes being transparent with all invoicing, tour inclusions/exclusions and the cost of community projects and service-learning programs.
     

  • Listing community project costs separately from the main tour price to ensure transparency.
     

  • Ensuring office staff, tour leaders, and tour guides inform travellers of any additional or optional costs in advance.
     

  • Where available, all international and domestic airfares will be carbon offset by default.
     

  • To maintain an impeccable record in health and safety, travellers are informed of correct safety procedures, ensuring their safety, the travelling party, and the local community.
     

  • Ensuring all travellers have a cultural awareness in-country. They are briefed on correct social etiquette, clothing requirements, and acceptable behaviour.
     

  • All community service-type projects (including service-learning & social-justice programs) are thoroughly vetted in advance to ascertain the viability and intended outcomes. All related projects and programs are requested from locals and the local authorities as required. All service-type activities operate within the laws of that country. Programs are designed to collaborate with the beneficiaries and stakeholders through a consultation process.
     

  • Environmental-related projects such as water reservoir construction and habitat rejuvenation are carefully assessed to ensure they fit within local laws.
     

  • Minimizing carbon emissions as a responsible travel provider. Where available, all international and domestic airfares will be carbon offset by default.
     

  • Our bookings and ground operations choose the most energy-efficient and appropriately sized vehicle for the intended travel.
     

  • Environmental-related projects such as water reservoir construction and habitat rejuvenation are carefully assessed to ensure they fit within local laws and have real tangible benefits.
     

  • Any construction-type community project, including house building or school renovation projects, is undertaken collaboratively. Projects are only considered if providing paid employment within the local community. While our travellers provide manual labour, we provide paid work for local tradespeople, transport and material providers, cooks and homestay staff.
     

  • We support gender equality and equal opportunity by employing a staff of any gender and engaging with women’s social enterprises, charities, and women’s workshops. In all countries within which we operate, we discuss and address the issues of gender inequality and awareness.
