When a group of enthusiastic students from an international school from Saudi Arabia set off for an eight-day trip to South Korea, it was about much more than a typical school excursion. With SEE leading the way, the experience was designed to immerse them in Korea’s unique mix of tradition, innovation, K-pop culture, and everyday life.

One of the standout moments was getting up close with cutting-edge robotics and emerging technology. Students had the chance to see intelligent machines in action, learn how robotics is shaping industries, and see firsthand the future of automation – namely, advanced manufacturing - with local experts. For many, it was the first time witnessing technology that once seemed purely futuristic—robots moving, interacting, and performing tasks with remarkable precision.

Of course, no visit to Korea would be complete without exploring the global phenomenon of K-pop. The students stepped into the world behind the music with an interactive K-pop experience. They learned basic choreography from professional instructors, explored how idols train, and gained insight into the cultural impact of Korean pop music across the world.

During a lively maths class, the visiting students quickly found common ground with their Korean peers through problem-solving and shared curiosity. Working in small groups, they tackled challenges together, comparing methods and explaining ideas across language barriers with a mix of gestures, laughter, and simple English. The atmosphere was collaborative and energetic, with Korean students eager to help and their international counterparts keen to contribute.

Midway through the trip, the group headed to Busan, a vibrant coastal city known for its beaches, markets, and more relaxed pace. It offered a refreshing contrast to the energy of Seoul, giving students a broader view of Korean life.

A visit to the Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) was yet another inclusion of this fast and comprehensive itinerary. Standing at the border and looking into North Korea gave students a real sense of the region’s history and complexity. Learning about the Korean War brought the topic to life in a way no classroom could.

Another uniquely Korean experience was an exploration of the country’s world-famous beauty and skincare industry. Students learned how Korean innovation, science, and culture have combined to create a global beauty phenomenon. Visiting a leading cosmetics centre, they discovered the research and marketing strategies behind products that have become internationally influential.

All in all, the trip was far more than just travel—it gave students a genuine insight into a country that’s quickly becoming a global powerhouse. With its strengths in technology, culture, and education, South Korea is clearly set to play an even bigger role on the world stage—and is fast becoming a must-visit destination for students.
